Spain car rentals

A long time favorite among travelers from around the world, Spain continues to impress Americans and European vacationers alike; aside from the country’s fascinating history and timeless charm, Spain boasts seemingly endless stretches of pristine beaches and coastline, as well as towering mountains, exciting urban areas, scenic countryside and an excellent infrastructure.

Travelers’ favorites

There are far too many Spanish wonders for a single visit; however, longstanding favorites include the charismatic and historic capital of Madrid, as well as the Catalonian city of Barcelona, which continues to make a name for itself as one of the world’s most enjoyable urban centers. Visitors can head northward via car hire to great outdoor opportunities in the peaks of the Pyrenees Mountains, or maybe head southward to resorts along the splendid Mediterranean coast. Offshore, the island of Ibiza continues to function as one of the world’s most-loved nightlife hotspots.

Best time to visit

Spain’s high season spans the summer months and crowds can be overwhelming in July and August. Winter also brings its share of visitors, though many head for the mountains. The country’s coastal areas enjoy mild winters while the inland maseta (tablelands) see a continental climate much like the western US. If you’re headed over in summer, be sure to compare car hire and hotel options thoroughly and book well in advance.

Driving in Spain

Americans generally do well with car rental in Spain; driving is done on the right and the roads are well kept. However, traffic can be faster paced and sometimes erratic compared to US cities, so plan accordingly. An international driving permit is required for visitors.
