South Korea
South Korea car rentals
Though few Americans or even Westerners venture too far into the fast-paced Asian nation of South Korea, those that do find rewards that extend far beyond its bustling, attraction-filled cities. The country also features excellent hiking and opportunities for outdoor activities, adorable villages, scenic coastline and charismatic cuisine all at very reasonable prices.
Travelers’ favorites
The prime starting point and undoubtedly the heart of the country, the capital of Seoul continues to prove a great destination for visitors; this massive, high-tech city boasts everything one could want from a major metropolis – Korean style. It’s also a great place to find good hotels and deals on car hire for moving onward to stunning natural wonders like Seoraksan National Park. Not far off is the DMZ, where visitors can get up close to the chilling border with North Korea, while far in the south lays Jejudo (Jeju), a gorgeous volcanic island and favorite holiday spot for Koreans and visitors alike.
Best time to visit
Seasons in South Korea are very comparable to most locations back home in the US, so it’s up to the visitor to decide which would provide the most ideal vacation conditions. Most prefer the summer, although there are good skiing opportunities in the winter months. Those visiting in summer and over holiday periods should compare car hire rates and book well in advance to get the best deals.
Driving in South Korea
Americans driving a car rental in South Korea generally find the situation comfortable and a great way to see national parks and outlying attractions. Be aware however that some traffic rules differ slightly. However, like at home in the US, Koreans drive on the right.
