Seychelles car rentals

A splendid tropical archipelago in the Indian Ocean, the Seychelles is rivaled by few destinations on Earth for beauty, making it well worth the effort for Americans making the extensive journey to the opposite side of the world. The white-sand beaches, vivid coral reefs and world-class resorts make this an almost dream-like destination, and there’s even more to be had for visitors looking to explore the islands’ jungle-laden interior and charismatic culture.

Travelers’ favorites

The majority of travelers head to one of the three primary islands: Mahe, La Digue and Praslin, all of which feature a good helping of phenomenal crystal clear waters, excellent snorkeling and renowned resorts, as well as opportunities for exploring via car hire. The former features the pristine Morne Seychellois National Park and makes car hire well worth it. There are also plenty of outlying highlights, including the far-removed and immensely beautiful Bird Island, as well as Curieuse Island, which features majestic rock formations, heavenly beaches and iconic giant tortoises meandering about.

Best time to visit

The Best time to visit the Seychelles depends on what you’re looking for. If you’re after comfortable temperatures and plenty of sunshine, May to September is best, though the trade winds during this period can make seas fairly rough, so protected beaches are ideal. The wetter season is a bit warmer and lasts from October to April.

Driving in the Seychelles

Americans driving in the Seychelles will find very reasonable road conditions, though surfaces can be quite steep and a bit slick in the wet season, so compare car hire options thoroughly when selecting a vehicle. Driving takes place on the left side of the road; keep this in mind when considering car rental.
