The northern coastal region of Mediterranean Morocco is a popular spot that boasts Spanish enclaves and stunning beaches along the Mediterranean Sea. The nearby ancient Arab city of Fez is also a favorite amongst many. Southwards along the coast of the North Atlantic Ocean, the fabulous beaches at Agadir and Essauira await and both are easy to reach with a car rental.
Best time to visit
The summer months are the busiest and the beaches can fill up quickly. They are also the hottest months and are best avoided for those not used to extreme heat. Spring and autumn see the most bearable weather and are ideal months for American travelers. Ramadan should also try to be avoided as many restaurants and attractions close to accommodate this important Muslim holiday.
Driving in Morocco
A car hire in Morocco is a great way to get around and many well-known companies have offices here; therefore travelers can easily compare car hire quality and prices, particularly at airports. The express toll road connects all main cities and the road network throughout is in good condition. Traffic signs are in French and Arabic although driving rules are similar to those throughout Europe, however some locals do not respect the laws therefore patience and caution is a must.
