Moldova is well connect across Europe with the capital of Chisinau having good air and rail links. For travelers from America that will mean a change of aircraft in one of the European hubs such as Frankfurt, London or Amsterdam. The rail links have been upgraded such that there are direct connections to the east European state from all over continental Europe particularly Germany, Switzerland and France. Car rental is an option for bringing convenience to the trip and there are operators working from the airport and from the rail terminals

As with most of the new eastern Europeans states there is a good deal of historic architecture. The capital of Chisinau has the best of these landmarks with the Triumphal Arch and the Noul Neamt monastery just two examples. The monastery in the city is one which is regarded highly amongst historians and it is these unique European aspects which bring a good number of American travelers to the country
Another attraction is the range of wines and the agricultural aspect of the country. Wine tours are readily available, and these can be arranged or can be made on an independent basis using a car hire. It would be worth deciding on who drives before going on such a trip!
Best Time to Visit
The winters in eastern Europe are not that much better than those back in the northern states of America, so most visitors head in this direction in the summer months. It does make the route into Moldova quit crowded but with excellent rail connections many visitors to the country will take the train and then get the car hire on arrival.
Driving in Moldova
The country follows the European laws with regards to driving, so for American motorists, this is the same as back home. The car rental is left hand drive and the driving is on the right. National and international licenses are acceptable, with the usual credit card requirement. The age is from21 years up, so it’s very regular procedures. Headlights are required on dipped mode, whatever the time of day, and the laws on seat belts cover front and rear passengers.
