Italy car rentals

Italy remains a favorite travel destination amongst American travelers. It is famous for its religious artifacts, culture, beaches, mountains and delicious cuisine as well. The country also boasts some wonderful islands and wineries, which are perhaps best explored via car rental.

Travelers’ favorites

Italy boasts some of the world’s most famous cities and sites of interest including romantic Venice, which is renowned for its picturesque canals that go around the city, as well as Florence, which features fantastic museums and architecture. Pisa is the home of the famous leaning tower while cosmopolitan Rome is one of the world’s best-preserved heritage sites.

Italy is also home to some wonderful islands just off the mainland. Two of the best include Sardinia and Sicily. Although these two islands are Italian, they boast different cuisines and cultures alongside some of the most beautiful beaches in Europe. The easiest way to explore these islands is by car hire.

Best time of the year to visit

Coastal areas in Italy are mild year-round but are most popular in spring and summer, while the high altitudes of the Alps are great for winter sports and also for summertime activities like hiking and camping. Fall is a good and comfortable alternative; compare car hire and hotel rates during this period to see the great value on offer.

Driving in Italy

Italian roads are well planned and follow European standards and the country observes right-hand driving rules. However, traffic and local driving habits can be more stressful than in the US, so come prepared if you’re planning to opt for car rental.
