Car hire Guadeloupe

The lovely islands of Guadeloupe are part of the Leeward Islands set amid the Caribbean. This is a favorite destination among Americans and people from around the world due to fabulous beaches, diving and scenery and it is easily accessible from the US by air and sea.

Guadeloupe Highlights

The islands’ heritage was heavily influenced by France and this can be still felt and seen in the many colonial style buildings. Le Moule was the former capital and still boasts some wonderful colonial buildings, which make for a quaint and lovely community. Today, they host lovely shops, restaurants and hotels.

If you like to visit museums, there is one on the island called the St John Perse Museum and this is home to a great range of art works and historical artifacts from the islands’ history. The museum is easy to find and is popular amongst American travelers. Car rental is particularly easy to find at big hotel resorts and in towns like Le Moule and can be great for exploring outward.

Caribbean weather

The weather of Guadeloupe is tropical and generally warm. However, the islands do experience a wet season in the North American summer and autumn, so the most pleasant time to go is normally from January to May. During these months the islands don’t get much rain and the beaches are at their best.

Driving conditions

To be able to hire a car in Guadeloupe, American visitors must hold an international driving license and most companies only will rent a car to those 25 or older. The islands observe right-hand driving rules and it is advisable to compare car hire options in advance.
