Botswana

Car rental Botswana

With the Kalahari Desert in the north, stunning deltas and a national park in the center and bustling city-life in the south, Botswana is fast becoming a popular tourist destination in Africa. For US travelers, car hire in Botswana is a great way to explore the beautiful country in its entirety and see more than just a resort-holiday would allow.

For most American travelers, a stop in Paris, Morocco or Spain is needed and then again from South Africa or Gaborone, and the break in the 20+ hour flight is a welcomed one. Compare car hire before you go so that you can secure your rental car for your arrival at Sir Seretse Khama Airport.

Hotspots for tourists

The Okavango Delta is the main attraction for the country. With stunning plains, free-flowing rivers and lush fauna, it’s an oasis that is like no other. Meanwhile, the Moremi National Park is located on a section of the delta and is filled with exotic creatures and animals. Safari tours are a favorite here.

The Chobe National Park and the Central Kalahari Game Reserve are all just as popular. Exploring the country using car hire is a great way to feel the outdoors and as the roads are generally very smooth, it’s possible to venture across much of the country.

Best time to go

For US travelers, there is no need for a visa although entrance is difficult due to a lack of international flights. What this means is that you might need to enter via South Africa, which will bolster your trip to Africa. During the North American summer months when it’s “winter” Botswana is the best time to travel. Although there is rain, the weather is cooler and more manageable compared to the hot and dry season.
